What Lera will have on offer at the Home Show

Lera Smart Home Solutions is returning to the HIA Home Show for our second year in 2019 after a hugely successful event last year.

Our expert team will be on hand to help people better understand the smart home products and technology available and to offer a first-hand insight into how home automation works.

With the arrival of new smart speakers in Australia last year, smart home technology is attracting greater interest and gaining popularity. Our exhibition at the Home Show offers owners, builders and renovators the chance to explore and witness the benefits that smart home technology can offer them.

We’ll be available to answer all your questions regarding:

  • How smart homes work
  • What smart homes can do
  • The best ways of implementing and installing smart home technology
  • How home owners can easily and affordably transform existing properties into smart homes
  • Design tips and advice on building new smart homes

Lera co-founder and IT networking specialist Ben Lee explained most people had heard the many terms used to describe smart home technology, but were looking for a greater appreciation of how they worked within the realm of their home.

“We’re basically going to talk about smart homes, what they are, and what they’re about. People may also have heard it referred to as home automation, the internet of things, or artificial intelligence as there’s been a huge emphasis placed on all these types of products this year.

“Our aim is to give people an idea of how smart homes actually work, how they can help, how they can integrate into a new or existing house, and just how exciting these types of products can be.”

The features on display

Smart home automation offers the opportunity to streamline your home to offer better security, efficiency and convenience. Some of the features Lera will be showcasing include:

Security – Home automation allows existing and new homes to embrace state-of-the-art security at a fraction of the traditional cost. Using easily installed sensors and cameras, you can monitor areas of your home in real time or be notified on your smart phone when a threat arises.

Products like smart intercoms, cameras and alarms allow home owners to see who is at their home, speak to them, activate lighting and trigger an alarm to alert authorities if required.

Meanwhile, sensors an tell people whether a front door has been left open or unlocked, allowing home owners to understand whether their property is secure and remedy the situation, even remotely.

Efficiency – One of the greatest benefits of smart home technology and automation is that it can allow a home to perform more efficiently.

For example, when a sensor determines the external temperature has risen to 27 degrees, it can automatically close all window blinds in a bid to reduce ambient heat within the home. Ultimately this can work to reduce cooling costs, while the electricity monitoring available with home automation ensures home owners know exactly what appliances are drawing power and how much it is costing them.

Safety – Smoke alarms, flood alarms and CO2 alarms are just some of the safety features available in the automated smart home. These features can determine when there’s a threat and send alerts directly to the home owner’s mobile phone, while also activating visual cues within the property such as emergency lighting.

Voice activation – One of the biggest current trends in smart home technology is voice activation. At the HIA Home Show, Lera Smart Home Solutions will walk attendees through the most effective ways to integrate and harness the power of voice activation within the home, with a focus on all the major smart speakers including Google Home, Amazon Echo, and Apple HomePod
